California Early White Softneck is an easy-to-grow white garlic with large, plump, creamy-white cloves and sharp, rich, umami flavor that is superior to store-bought garlic! California White is a favorite for its fast growth, long storage, and incredible flavor. Widely adaptable to most climates and reliably productive. Braid the tops into a decorative rope for an attractive display or give away as a gift! Grows 10-20 cloves per head.

Growing garlic at home from bulbs is easy and rewarding. Every clove can grow into a large bulb at least 10 times its weight within one year of planting. Plant in Fall for a late Spring or early Summer harvest or plant in early Spring for a harvest in the same season.

Planting Instructions:

Divide the bulb into individual cloves. Plant each clove with the narrow tip facing upwards 1-2 inches deep in soil. Try to plant cloves in well-drained soil rich in organic matter and full sun immediately after cracking the bulb into cloves. Plant Fall-planted garlic 6-10 weeks before the first frost for a harvest in Early Summer, about 240 days from planting. Plant Spring-planted garlic when soil reaches at least 55F for a harvest in the same season, about 90 days from planting. When bottom-third of leaves yellow, pull a garlic plant to check the bulb for splitting. If cloves have formed and the bulbs are a good size, harvest the bulbs. Cure the bulbs by leaving in a dry environment for 2-4 weeks. Optionally, braid tops tightly then allow bulbs to continue curing. Drought-sensitive.
