Planting Instructions:

Soil Preparation:

Choose a clear area with loose, fertile, moist, well-draining soil in full sun or partial shade. Remove weeds, large rocks, and litter from the planting area. Till the soil 12 inches deep and rake several times to break up large clods. It is best to do this when the soil is dry enough to not stick to garden tools. Loosening the soil will help the plant establish strong roots. For best drainage, thoroughly mix top soil and organic matter such as compost, manure, peat moss, or saw dust. Optionally, add bulb fertilizer by digging a 12-inch deep planting hole and adding the fertilizer to the bottom of the hole and covering with 4 inches soil.

Planting:

Plant tulip bulbs in the Fall when daytime temperatures are consistently <60F. Space bulbs 4-6 inches apart for individual tulips or 2-3 inches apart for bouquet planting groups and garden beds. Water the bulbs after planting. Allow at least 12-16 weeks of consistent <50F temperatures in the Winter for tulip flower buds to produce. Tulips will bloom in mid-Spring.

Planting Depth: 6-8 inch
Spacing:
4-6 inches
