Chia

Chia is a luscious leafy-green super-food with tall purple flowers, capable of growing up to 6 feet tall! It is a member of the mint family, originating from Mexico and Guatamala and is cultivated for its seeds, which are high in omega-3 fatty acids and add a distinct gelatinous texture to food. Fast growing and resilient, it is excellent for growing indoors into unique houseplants and character-like shapes.

Planting Instructions:

For sprouting, moisten seeds with water in a tray and cover for 4 days in 75-85F temperature, until 1/2 inch in size. Then start sprouts indoors by planting 4-6 weeks before last spring frost just under surface of the soil. After danger of frost has passed, transplant seedlings in well-draining soil, in a mostly sunny location.
