Planting Instructions:
Soil Preparation:
Remove weeds, large rocks, and litter from the planting area. Till the soil 8-10 inches deep and rake several times to break up large clods. It is best to do this when the soil is dry enough to not stick to garden tools. Loosening the soil will help the plant establish strong roots.Planting:
Winter Chervil is a cool-season crop and does well in the cool temperatures of Spring and Fall. Soil temperature should be at least 55F for seeds to sprout. Sow outdoors 4-6 weeks before last Spring frost or 6-8 weeks before first Frost in Fall. Sow in loose, fertile, moist, well-draining soil in full sun. Plant at 1/4 inch deep and cover thinly with soil. Plant 3 seeds spaced 6 inches apart within the rows. Keep watered. Provide afternoon shade if >70F to reduce bolt-risk. Water frequently. Cold-hardy annual. Plants are hardy to about 15F. May cover with mulch in the winter to prevent risk of damage from cold snaps.
