American Purple Top Rutabaga or "swede" is a root vegetable, originating as a hybrid between the cabbage and the turnip. Excellent  roasted, cooked and mashed, but can also be eaten raw. Rutabaga are easy to grow and are high in several nutrients, including Thiamin, Vitamin B6, Folate, Calcium, Magnesium and Phosphorus.
