Lovage, also known as sea parsley, is a tall perennial plant that has been long cultivated in Europe. Its leaves are used as an herb, its roots as a vegetable, and its seeds as a spice, especially in southern European cuisine. The leaves and stem of the lovage plant add an intense celery-like flavor, with hints of parsley and anise, to soups, stews and stocks or pork and poultry dishes.

Planting Instructions:
Plant 1/4 inch in soil indoors 6-8 weeks before the last Spring frost. After danger of frost has passed and seedlings are large enough to handle, plant 2-3 feet apart in rich soil and full sun or partial shade. To direct sow, plant 3-4 seeds in groups 2-3 feet apart and thin for the most vigorous seedlings. To prevent reseeding, cut off flowering heads. After several years, dig up and divide.
