Marjoram is a cold-sensitive perennial herb with sweet pine and citrus flavors. Sweet marjoram is distinct from knotted marjoram. Marjoram is part of the mint family, and actually a sub-species of oregano. It's a delicate herb with a sweet, floral, lightly spiced fragrance popular in Middle Eastern countries. While similar to oregano, it has a milder flavor and is often used to garnish salads, soups, and meat dishes.

Planting Instructions:
Start indoors 3-4 weeks before last spring frost. Sow seed thinly just below the surface of the soil (1/10 inch) and keep evenly moist at 65-70F. Transplant well after the last frost, since marjoram cannot tolerate cold. Place seedlings 6-8 apart and thin seedlings to 10-12 inches. Also grows well as a container plant. Marjoram thrives on neglect preferring slightly dry soil and strong sunlight because of its Mediterranean origin. Water only in drought.
