Chioggia Beets, also known as "Candy Cane Beets," "Candy Striped Beets," or "Bullseye Beets," are an Italian heirloom variety of beets originating from the town of Chioggia, near Venice. It's sweet flavored, but most notable for its beautiful and striking deep pink and white spirals. This beet adds a beautiful pop of color to salads and is a fun side to any entree. It is excellent pickled, boiled, roasted, or steamed. The mild flavored 12" tops are green with red-striped stems that can be eaten raw or cooked and are an excellent substitute for spinach.
